Database Description

AsMamDB is a database aiming to facilitate the systematic study of alternatively spliced genes of mammal. Version 1.0 of AsMamDB contains 1,563 alternatively spliced genes of human, mouse and rat, each associated with a cluster of nucleotide sequences. The main information provided by AsMamDB includes gene''s alternative splicing patterns, gene structures, locations in chromosomes, products of genes and tissues where they express. Alternative splicing patterns are represented by multiple alignments of gene''s various transcripts and graphs of their topological structures. Gene structures are illustrated by showing distributions of exons, introns and various regulatory elements. There are 4,204 DNAs, 3,977 mRNAs, 8,989 CDSs, 126,931 ESTs in the present database. They have covered more than 130,000 Entries of GenBank and given links to 4,443 records of MEDLINE. Sequences of DNAs, mRNAs, exons, introns and relevant regulatory elements are provided in FASTA format. The web-based multiple alignment tool Asalign and various category lists can help researchers to get more information.
